Paper Clutter Solutions

Paper piles can be overwhelming to handle, and that is the case. It's incredible in the modern world we live in that so much paper is ingrained into the everyday household. With the amount of mail we receive and the stacks of papers from schools for kids and other organizations, the clutter of paper can seem overwhelming. We often define clutter as "postponed decisions."

Here are some paper clutter solutions to help you organize your home.

The first step in organizing, and perhaps the most important to long-term success, is to make sure you have a designated time and space to go through school and mail work. It could be in the kitchen, the foyer, or in the den; make sure that it is near to the recycling bin, garbage as well as a family calendar, and a few basic office items.

Then, you must make quick decisions regarding the majority of items. For example, you can transfer dates to calendars, and then recycle any notices or junk mail. Create a place to store any school or mail which require attention or action at a later date, such as invoices, forms for field trips, and book requests.

Finally, you should have a strategy to manage emotional papers, such as artwork, homework assignments that kids appreciate, and notes from family members that are precious to them. Some exceptional pieces might end up on the fridge or on a wall with art that they can look at and show their work. However, the majority of them must be immediately put in an appropriate bin for every child.

If the item is too large to fit, then take an image of it. If it's something that is likely to be a problem for other papers, place it in a sheet protector. In the summer, you can look through each of the boxes together with your child and talk about their accomplishments throughout the course of the school year. Make a decision about which items should be kept in their forever keepsakes and which ones can be reused or donated to.

These solutions for paper clutter can help you feel less overwhelmed by the mountains of paperwork that are a mess in your house.
